Terms and conditions

We strongly recommend you take out cancellation insurance. If you have to cancel your holiday, every attempt will be made to re-let and refund the cost, less a £10 administration fee. But if the cottage cannot be re-let you may be liable to forfeit the deposit if you cancel more than 28 days before the start of your stay or the full cost of the cottage if you cancel within 28 days.

We would only cancel your holiday if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would make every attempt to offer alternative accommodation. However, if this was not possible or unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you for the holiday. Our liability does not extend beyond this refund.

We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves.

Arrival

The majority of guests arrive at the cottage by car. There is a drive at the front of the cottage and a garage with step-free access. The car makes it possible to park the car within 5 metres of the front door and 10 metres of the back door. There is an infrequent bus service to Great Barugh, running between Malton and Pickering once on Mondays and once on Fridays. However, it is highly advisable, if not essential, to have a car at the cottage. 

Entrances

The front door is 350mm off the ground in two steps. The back door is 150mm high in a single step. The back door is accessed from a rear courtyard behind the cottage with step-free, gently-sloping access.

Inside

All doors in the cottage are a standard width of 750mm. There is a downstairs toilet and washbasin that can be accessed from the living rooms step-free. All bedrooms and the main bathroom are upstairs. The stairs are 750mm wide, comprising 13 steps. The risers are 190mm high and the treads are 260mm wide. There is a small landing connecting the bathroom and first bedroom on one side and the second and third bedrooms on another side. The landing has a step down on either side.

We are responsible for the collection and proper management of any personal information you submit. We will keep your personal details secure and use the information you provide consistently with applicable privacy and data protection laws and the terms of this Privacy Notice.

Information collected

To provide our services to you, we need to collect, process and store information about you. In most cases, the information we collect about you is provided by you directly. This helps us to confirm the information we collect is accurate and as up to date as possible. We will usually do this when you first contact us, though we may ask you to confirm your details on subsequent contacts from time to time.

In order to respond to your enquiries, we may collect your name, postal address, email address, telephone number and information about the dates you are interested in staying at the cottage.

If you go on to make a booking, we will collect and retain information about you including your name, the name of your fellow guests, your home address, your telephone number and your email address. We must collect some of this information by law and keep records about who is staying with us, but we collect other information to facilitate the booking process and send you important information about your stay.

Information use

The information that you provide to us is used to answer your enquiries or to facilitate your stay with us. We also process your information anonymously to allow us to understand occupancy trends, booking rates and the origin of those bookings in order to provide better services to you. We will not use the data to identify you personally or to make any decisions about you.

None of your information is used for marketing purposes, unless you have specifically asked us to do so.

Information sharing

We do not share your data with anyone else, except where we have legal obligations to share data with some third parties identified in law. We may disclose your personal information to third parties if we are under a duty to do so to comply with any legal obligation.

Information retention

Generally we hold your information while you have a relationship with us – for example while we answer your enquiry or while you have an upcoming booking or while you are staying with us – and thereafter for up to seven years.

Visting our website

Each time you visit our website we will automatically collect the following information:

Technical information, including the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your device to the Internet, your login information, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform.

Session information, including the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL) clickstream to, through and from our site (including date and time); products you viewed or searched for; page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page and any phone number used to email us or call our telephone number.

We use information gathered through cookies and similar technologies to measure and analyse information on visits to our websites, to tailor the websites to make them better for visitors and to improve technical performance. We will not use the data to identify you personally or to make any decisions about you.
